What is Latisse®?
In December 2008, the FDA approved Latisse® as a safe and natural way of extending the length of your eyelashes. If you’re tired of the mess, inconvenience, and unpredictability of fake eyelashes or eye makeup, this treatment may be right for you.
How Is Latisse® Applied?
Latisse® is a prescription medication that is applied using sterile applicators. Although it is very straight-forward and easy to use, our medical team will explain and demonstrate proper use techniques during your consultation. It is imperative that you use a new sterile applicator every single night to avoid infection. The medication is applied to the upper eyelashes only. The blinking process naturally transfers the medication to the lower eyelashes.
Before applying the product, all makeup and contacts lenses should be removed for best results. It is important that you are careful in blotting away any excess product with a tissue to avoid hair growth in other areas.
Is the Product Safe?
Latisse® has been shown to be safe for the majority of people in studies conducted by the FDA. However, these conditions may require further evaluation before treatment is approved:
- Conjunctivitis
- Uveitis
- Serious Allergies
- Infections On Your Eyelids
- Pregnancy/Nursing
If you do not qualify to use Latisse®, we can discuss possible alternative treatments during your consultation at our locations around the Milwaukee area.
When Will I See Results?
You should see results in between two to four months, although the entire treatment protocol should be followed for maximum results. If you do not follow the treatment schedule, or if you stop using the product altogether, your eyelashes will revert to their former state. Most patients experience eyelashes that are naturally longer, fuller, and darker.
For patients who qualify, results are typically long-lasting for the duration of treatment and as long as the full treatment protocol is followed. All safety concerns and questions can be addressed during your consultation.
