Acne Treatments

If you have acne, especially as an adult, you have probably tried a wide range of over-the-counter treatments. However, there are multiple types of acne that resist the kind of treatments that you can find at the drug store. In these cases, our medical team at A Younger You Medical Spa can help with a wide range of treatment options to not only help reduce and prevent breakouts but to also help make acne scarring less visible through different ways of acne treatments depending on your choice and condition.

Acne Treatments at A Younger You Medical Spa

Here are some of the most popular and effective treatments we offer:

Chemical Peels

Acne is caused by pores being blocked. This is often due to oil, but dirt or dead skin can also clog pores. Whatever the cause of acne, clearing out pores and removing dead skin cells can help to keep breakouts from occurring. Along with immediately removing dead skin cells, a chemical peel also helps to increase the turnover rate of skin cells. This can help keep your pores clear even after a peel, and it can also reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Peels are normally done with glycolic acid and other beneficial ingredients to help promote skin healing from the inside out. You can have a peel done in just 30 minutes, and they can be applied as frequently as every 4 weeks with a long-term treatment plan.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments

When pores are clogged, bacteria become trapped in them, and when bacteria are trapped, skin often becomes inflamed and red. IPL therapy uses UV lights to target and destroys the most common types of acne-causing bacteria, and it does so without pain, drugs, or downtime. The treatment is FDA approved and is safe and effective against inflammatory acne.

Microdermabrasion

Similar to the concept behind chemical peels, microdermabrasion helps to treat acne and reduce the appearance of scars by exfoliating the surface of the skin using fine crystals. Along with using crystals to gently abrade your skin, vacuum suction removes the crystals, dead skin cells, and the sticky material that clogs your pores. This treatment can also help soften and smooth rough or textured skin.

Microdermabrasion can be ideal for people who have blackheads, whiteheads, or acne that is not inflamed. If you have inflamed acne or thin skin, we may suggest other treatment options that do not involve physical exfoliation.

Microneedling

If you no longer have many breakouts but you are interested in getting rid of acne scars or making them less noticeable, you may want to consider microneedling. Microneedling uses minuscule needles to puncture the dermis, which stimulates collagen and elastin production. Serums and other treatments may also be more effective after a microneedling treatment because it is easier for them to penetrate your skin. These treatments can also help to improve the texture of your skin, increase hydration and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
