At A Younger You, we understand how important it is to look your best, and our professional waxing service is an excellent way to help our patients reach this goal. It leaves them with smooth, attractive-looking skin for all social situations.
What Is Waxing, and How Does It Work?
Waxing is an extremely popular hair removal method. Hair is removed from the roots, so the results you achieve with this treatment tend to last longer than with over-the-counter solutions. When our medical team applies professional wax to the treated area, it clings to the hair and hardens. When the wax is removed, the hairs are removed from the follicles. Afterward, your skin is smooth and hair-free.
Preparing for Your Visit
For the best results, we typically recommend that the hair be between one quarter of an inch and one half of an inch. Patients who have coarser hair should be closer to half of an inch. Call today to come in for an appointment at any of our three offices surrounding Milwaukee and we can evaluate your body hair and which treatment protocol will be best for you.
Should I Expect Immediate Results?
Yes and no. Immediately after the process, your skin will be visibly smoother. However, since your hair grows in three stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage, it may take up to three treatments to help you get smooth skin that lasts. We may a lso recommend that you not shave between waxing appointments as this can actually stimulate hair growth.
How Frequently Should I Wax?
Many clients have waxing done once every four weeks. There are two benefits to this. First, your hair follicles are going to have a lighter grip on your hair. Second, your skin is going to become less sensitive, and so the procedure will have minimal discomfort.
What Can I Do to Improve My Waxing Experience?
- Do not take a shower immediately before treatment. The hot water opens up your pores, and it makes your skin sensitive. Both of these things may make the waxing less effective.
- Make sure your hair is the right length before waxing.
- Thoroughly clean the areas that are going to be waxed.
- Avoid taking blood thinning medications, cortisone, and other medications that can increase skin sensitivity.
Will There Be Side Effects?
Many clients have some temporary redness a day or two after treatment. As the hair regrows, you may experience itching. However, if you follow the guidelines we provide about post-waxing care, most of these symptoms can be avoided or are minimal.
