How Long Does Latisse Last? - A Younger You Burlington

Have your eyelashes thinned out since you were a teenager? Are you losing more eyelashes than before? Does the shortness of your eyelashes bother you? If so, you may be a good candidate for Latisse at A Younger You Medical Spa in Burlington, WI.

FAQs about Latisse

How Long Does Latisse Last?

When you take the prescription medicine as directed, you will see results for as long as you continue to take it. If you don't take the medication as prescribed, you might only observe the full effects of the treatment for a couple of months. The upper eyelashes will continue to fall out after they have reached the end of the growth phase.

If you stop taking Latisse, eventually you will have to wear eye makeup again – either mascara or fake lashes. However, there are a few key things to consider.

Once you achieve the look you desire, the medication may not need to be applied every day to maintain its effects. In addition, how long the results last after you stop using the medication depends on what brought about your inadequate lashes in the first place.

How Does This Treatment Work?

Bimatoprost, the main ingredient in this medication, extends the length of time that your eyelashes spend in growth phase. The growth cycle of your eyelashes consists of several stages, like the growth cycle of other hairs on your body. You grow your hair when it is in the anagen phase, also known as the growth phase.

You won't be able to achieve the kind of look you want if the degree of growth is too short during the anagen phase. Catagen is the next step in the growth process. In this stage, the hair follicles shrink and detach from the dermal papilla.

The next phase is telogen, or resting, which lasts about three months. At any given time, between 10 and 15 percent of your hairs are in this phase. There is then the exogen phase, during which the old hair falls out and new hair grows in its place.

How Long Does it Take to See Results?

It usually takes 60 days for the first results of the treatment to become apparent. Following this, the final results of the treatment take three to four months to appear. However, you should keep in mind that the effects of the treatment will last only for a couple of months after you stop taking it.

How Hard Is it to Use This Medication?

It is very easy to apply this drug. You'll find clear, simple instructions on the bottle that comes with your medication. In brief, apply the medication both above and below your upper lash line by using a clean, sterile applicator brush and a drop of the medication. Use it as you would eyeliner!

When Should I Apply the Medication?

After your morning face wash, apply this medication. You can also apply this medication at night by washing your face before you apply it and leaving it on for 30 minutes before you lie down. This will allow the medication to dry properly before you sleep. If you lie down right after applying the medication, some of it may drip off and rub into your skin by accident, which is why it's important to make sure it is completely dry.

Am I a Good Candidate for Latisse?

Patients with healthy eyes and no active infections and concerns about sparse top eyelashes may be good candidates for this medication. We'll meet with you to talk about your concerns and help you understand if you are a good candidate.

How Long Does One Bottle  Last?

In general, a 5ml bottle can last between four and eight months. There are 112 doses in 5 milliliters. You will likely apply this daily for 16 weeks, or almost 4 months. In some cases, the medication may only need to be applied every day during the initiation phase. The medication may also only need to be applied every other day during the maintenance phase.

If I Take This Medication, Can I Wear Mascara?

Yes! Please remember that you must give your medication time to dry so it won't be rubbed away. Because of this, it's important for you to apply it a half-hour before applying any cosmetics, including eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara.

Can I Purchase Latisse Over the Counter?

No. You can only get this powerful medication by prescription. To put it simply, you must see a medical professional to discuss your case and determine whether the treatment would be effective and safe for you.

This medication can effectively treat thin lashes caused by madarosis, a common side effect of chemotherapy. In most cases, this medication will be prescribed if your eyes and eyelids are in good shape.
