How Can Microneedling Help Me Achieve Smoother, Glowing Skin?

May 20, 2022 by A Younger You

Glowing Skin

If you’re looking for an all-in-one facial treatment that can help to alleviate common complaints such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and melasma, microneedling may be the solution you’re seeking.

This revolutionary treatment is minimally invasive and can significantly improve the overall appearance of your face, resulting in a youthful-looking, more even complexion.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-surgical treatment designed to help individuals improve their overall skin tone, reduce skin laxity, and eliminate imperfections such as acne scars and fine lines. It uses a small tool with dozens of tiny needles to penetrate the skin, resulting in tiny wounds that induce collagen production.

The stimulation of the skin induces cells to produce collagen in order to heal the microscopic wounds. As collagen is produced, it generates healthy new skin cells that kick-start the regeneration process. The result is a fresh new layer of skin with fewer imperfections and a smooth appearance.

What Microneedling Benefits Can I Expect?

Microneedling is a highly effective treatment that provides patients with a number of benefits. Some microneedling benefits include the following:

Reducing the Appearance of Lines and Wrinkles

Through the use of the microneedling tool, the skin receives thousands of tiny puncture wounds that are invisible to the naked eye. However, these wounds help stimulate collagen production, which results in fresh new skin cells that overlay old ones. This results in an overall reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

As the skin repairs in the weeks following the treatment, it will adopt a firmer, tighter, and younger-looking appearance.

Helps to Shrink Pores

Pores are the tiny openings on the surface of the skin that allow for the secretion of sweat and oil that the body naturally produces. While pore size can vary and is largely due to genetics, pores may grow larger during the normal aging process.

As skin ages, it begins to lose elasticity. The body produces less collagen, which may result in the appearance of larger pores. Microneedling can help negate this process and reduce the overall size of the pores.

Improve Sun Damage and Hyperpigmentation

Those with sun damage or hyperpigmentation often seek solutions or treatments designed to reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone. While traditional options such as intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy and chemical peels can help to eliminate the appearance of sun damage, they often come with some downtime.

Microneedling can help to reduce hyperpigmentation with no downtime, resulting in a more even skin tone.

Reduce the Appearance of Scars

Other great microneedling benefits include reducing the appearance of acne scars. Acne scars often occur as a result of breakouts during the teen years and early adulthood. They can lead to dimpling in the skin, resulting in uneven skin texture.

However, microneedling can help reduce their appearance by inducing collagen production, which generates new skin cells.

Enhance the Ability of the Skin to Absorb Products

If you have a regular skincare routine that you follow, microneedling can help you to improve the ability of your skin to absorb products. This increases the effectiveness of your products and can also boost the results of your microneedling treatment.

Following your microneedling treatment, we will also apply certain serums that can help improve hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

How Does a Microneedling Procedure Work?

Prior to undergoing a microneedling procedure, you’ll meet with one of our trained team members for a full consultation. During the consultation, we’ll ask for your medical history as well as a list of any medications that you are currently taking.

We’ll also discuss the goals that you want to achieve through the use of a microneedling treatment. In some cases, we may recommend add-on solutions for enhanced results.

Many times, we are able to begin the microneedling procedure directly following your consultation. We’ll begin by applying a topical anesthetic cream to the treatment area. After this, we’ll thoroughly cleanse your face and any other areas that are being treated, such as your neck.

Next, we’ll use the microneedling device, known as a Dermapen, to roll over areas of the face. Typically, we’ll perform between two and six passes before finishing the treatment. Afterward, we’ll apply a serum to calm the skin and help with the healing process. You’ll be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately.

The results of microneedling are often obtained through the use of multiple treatments. For example, we may recommend three to five sessions of microneedling spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the best anti-aging benefits. We can also combine microneedling with other treatments with a plan optimized to fit your needs.

How Long Do Microneedling Results Last?

You’ll begin to see the first results of your treatment approximately one week after your first session. Most patients initially notice an improvement in skin texture or pore size. More significant results are apparent with multiple treatments and may include a reduction of wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars.

You can maintain your results by scheduling repeated treatments. The length of time that the benefits of microneedling remain apparent will vary according to your age, the condition of your skin, and the effort that you put into your at-home skincare regime.

Are You Ready to Try Microneedling?

If you’re ready to give microneedling a try, contact A Younger You Medical Spa. We have offices in Brookfield and Burlington, Wisconsin, and serve the wider area, including Milwaukee, Waukesha, and New Berlin. To get started, schedule an appointment with our trained team today!

How Can Bellafill Help Me Obtain a More Youthful Appearance?

May 20, 2022 by A Younger You

Bellafill

If you’re beginning to see the signs of aging in your face or if you have indented acne scars from past acne breakouts, you may be looking for a solution.

While various products and procedures on the market today can help you smooth wrinkles and obtain a more youthful appearance, Bellafill is a great option for those who are seeking a longer-lasting solution than other dermal fillers provide.

What Is Bellafill?

Bellafill is a collagen-based dermal filler that contains microspheres of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). PMMA is a type of resin that is commonly used in medical implants and has been proven to reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Because it is collagen-based, Bellafill is different from other dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvéderm. Those dermal fillers consist of a concentration of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid does not last as long as Bellafill’s solution

Typically, patients who use hyaluronic acid fillers will need touch-ups to maintain their results every three to six months. Results from Bellafill injectable fillers last much longer — in some cases, up to five years.

What Areas Can Bellafill Treat?

Bellafill fillers are most effective for treating nasolabial folds and acne scars. As a collagen-based solution, Bellafill stimulates the production of collagen in the facial tissues. This is quite helpful for those who are beginning to see the effects of reduced collagen in their skin.

Nasolabial folds are deep indentations that form at the base of the cheeks and appear diagonally from the mouth and nose. These lines often deepen due to age and become more noticeable over time. Belafill can help reduce the appearance of these lines, leading to a more youthful appearance.

Bellafill is the only FDA-approved dermal filler on the market designed to improve the appearance of acne scars. Patients can use Bellafill to plump indented scars that cause the skin to have a bumpy appearance. The addition of volume raises the dents that have formed to the level of surrounding skin, fading acne scars.

What Are the Benefits of Bellafill?

As a collagen-based dermal filler, Bellafill can offer longer-lasting results than traditional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvéderm and Restylane. Results from Bellafill may last up to five years for injections made to smooth out nasolabial folds. When used to treat acne scars on the face, Bellafill results typically last up to a year.

Touch-ups can maintain the results that you achieve from Bellafill. Since you won’t need regular injections, this solution is best for those who don’t like to spend a lot of time at the spa and desire a longer-lasting, natural solution to wrinkles and acne scars.

Since the solution is collagen-based, it helps to stimulate your body’s own collagen production capabilities. This can improve results over time and help to slow down the facial aging process.

What Can I Expect During a Bellafill Treatment?

Before undergoing a Bellafill treatment, you’ll meet with a trained specialist at A Younger You Medical Spa. We will discuss the goals you are seeking to achieve through the use of Bellafill fillers and design an appropriate treatment plan for you.

Depending on your goals, you may want to include other treatments or dermal fillers to reduce wrinkles or reveal younger-looking skin in addition to Bellafill injectable fillers.

Once we’ve reviewed your medical history and know about any prescription drugs you are currently taking, we’ll be able to schedule an appointment for you to undergo treatment. Before using Bellafill fillers, we’ll need to give you an allergy test to make sure you aren’t sensitive to any of the ingredients in the product.

During the treatment, we’ll thoroughly cleanse your skin before injecting the filler into strategic locations. Precise placement of the injections allows for maximum results designed to meet your treatment goals. Afterward, we’ll apply ice to the treatment sites before releasing you to continue with your normal daily activities.

Results from a Bellafill filler treatment will be immediately apparent, so you’ll be able to enjoy smoother-looking skin directly after your appointment.

The entire process is relatively quick and can usually be completed in less than an hour. Prior to leaving the appointment, we’ll give you guidance on how to care for your skin in the days afterward and maintain your results over time.

While you will see initial immediate improvement, you can expect the filler to continue to enhance the appearance of your skin over the following three to six months. Since it stimulates collagen production, your skin will naturally continue to improve in areas where the injections were performed.

Can I Use Additional Treatments to Enhance My Results?

Yes! For those seeking to enhance other areas of the skin that are beginning to show the signs of aging, other fillers or neuromodulator injections may be recommended.

For example, a neuromodulator such as Botox can help reduce the appearance of forehead lines that appear as the result of making facial expressions over time. Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm or Restylane can plump the lips or other areas of the face that are beginning to show signs of drooping or aging.

One of our trained team members will work with you to develop a comprehensive and customized treatment program.

Ready to Try Out Bellafill?

If you live in Brookfield, Burlington, or the surrounding cities of Milwaukee, Waukesha, and New Berlin, Wisconsin, reach out to A Younger You Medical Spa. We offer Bellafill injectable fillers and can help you achieve your goal of attaining a more youthful appearance. Contact us to learn more about our services today!

What Makes HydraFacial So Effective?

April 15, 2022 by A Younger You

HydraFacial

HydraFacials are currently the most popular in-office facial treatment globally, with millions of HydraFacial procedures performed each year. With everyone from your favorite celebrity to your coworkers experiencing the benefits of HydraFacial, it’s natural that you may want to know more about what this unique facial has to offer.

A Younger You Medical Spa in Burlington and Brookfield wants you to rediscover your natural beauty. We invest in the latest and most advanced skin rejuvenation procedures to ensure you have the best options to restore your skin, regardless of your concerns.

HydraFacials reform your skin beautifully in just one procedure. So it’s easy to see why fans keep coming back for more. Whether your skin shows signs of aging, suffers from acne, or experiences any other issue, HydraFacials provide a solution for your skincare needs.

What Is a HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial is one of the most potent non-invasive skin treatments available. The procedure rejuvenates the skin by using a patented technology to clean, extract, and hydrate your skin in as little as 30 minutes.

The HydraFacial procedure uses the brand’s unique Vortex-Fusion system to deeply cleanse the skin while simultaneously infusing healthy serums and moisturizers, revealing a refreshing, younger look.

Most HydraFacial benefits result from the procedure’s multi-step process that addresses several skin concerns at once.

First, our skilled aestheticians use the wand attached to the HydraFacial machine to create a swirling “vortex” effect. This effect pulls impurities upward while pushing serums into the skin simultaneously.

The results are impressive. Since HydraFacial is both gentle and effective, patients can immediately expect noticeable skin tone and texture improvements.

How Is HydraFacial So Effective?

HydraFacial’s effectiveness lies in its combination of unique technology and powerful ingredients. The treatment uses a variety of acids to achieve results, including glycolic, beta, lactic, salicylic, and hyaluronic.

While this combination may sound more like a chemical peel than a restoring facial, these acids mix into a series of serums, which, through the multi-step process, serve specific functions in restoring the skin.

What Is the HydraFacial’s Multi-Step Process?

Each step of the HydraFacial process builds on the last, resulting in impressive results for all skin types.

Step 1: Cleansing Through Vortex Exfoliation

Step one serves as skin detoxification through exfoliation. Skin naturally sheds dead cells to make way for new ones every few weeks. However, that process doesn’t consistently slough off cells completely, resulting in dull skin, clogged pores, and dry, flaky patches.

In HydraFacial’s first step, the wand clears deeply embedded dirt and oil from the pores using the Activ-4™ Serum, which contains algae extract and lactic acid.

The serum’s lactic acid increases cell turnover and eliminates the buildup of dead skin cells on the top layer of skin. The algae extract works in conjunction with the lactic acid and is full of antioxidants, vitamin B, magnesium, zinc, and detoxifying minerals that help clean out buildup in pores. This combination thoroughly cleans the skin.

Step 2: Debris Loosening Through Vortex-Peel

Step two of the HydraFacial provides exfoliation and debris loosening from deep inside skin cells. Using the Glysal™ serum, a mix of glycolic and salicylic acid, the skin is hydrated and the pores are permeated, loosening debris for easy removal.

Glysal serum’s glycolic acid breaks the bonds between the skin’s outer layer of cells and the subsequent skin layer. It also helps the outer skin barrier retain moisture. The serum’s other main ingredient, salicylic acid, reduces swelling and redness and unplugs blocked skin pores.

Step 3: Pore Cleansing Through Vortex Extraction

Extracting clogged pores is often one of the most exciting and painful parts of any facial. However, the excitement over your potentially clearer skin may outweigh any potential pain. Unfortunately, poorly performed extractions result in long-lasting redness, breakouts, and scarring.

Fortunately, HydraFacial’s Vortex Extraction process doesn’t irritate the skin. Instead, the wand acts as a vacuum, sucking the dirt and debris loosened in step two from your pores while infusing your skin with the Beta-HD™ serum. The Vortex Extraction means no pinching, pushing, or remaining remnants in your pores.

The Beta-HD serum uses honey extract to hydrate and condition the skin. Salicylic acid and willow bark extract exfoliate the skin. Lastly, Tasmanian pepper and spiraea ulmaria flower extracts calm, soothe and protect the skin.

Step 4: Vortex Fusion

The final HydraFacial step takes advantage of the previous steps to reap the most significant benefits for your skin. First, our expert aesthetician saturates the skin with Antiox+™, nourishing and protecting it with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid in the Vortex Fusion.

At this point in the procedure, the skin is ready to absorb all of the benefits of the serum. The skin is naturally detoxified, and the antioxidants found in the serum’s vitamins A and E, white tea extract, and rosemary leaf extract protect the skin from environmental free radicals. In addition, the serum’s hyaluronic acid deeply moisturizes.

What Are the HydraFacial Benefits?

HydraFacial is gentle enough for most skin types, and it works to treat most common skin concerns, including:

  • Blemishes
  • Pores clogged with blackheads and whiteheads
  • Uneven skin tones
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Oily skin
  • Dry skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity
  • Enlarged pores

HydraFacial benefits include the ability to customize the treatment for your skin concerns. For example, we can adjust the serum levels to suit your skin’s needs. In addition, the HydraFacial procedure requires no downtime. It just offers smoother, clearer, and younger-looking skin.

Am I a Candidate for HydraFacial?

All skin types can experience HydraFacial benefits. Anyone looking for skin rejuvenation can expect to enjoy results from a HydraFacial.

HydraFacials treat many skin concerns at once, so patients who previously combined monthly facials with chemical peels or microdermabrasion treatments now see similar results in one 30-minute HydraFacial.

A Younger You Medical Spa’s skilled aesthetic team wants you to see how fresh, smooth and soft your skin can be. Call or schedule an online appointment to learn more about HydraFacial treatments to rejuvenate your skin.

Everything You Need to Know About Ultherapy

April 15, 2022 by A Younger You

Ultherapy

Even those who take meticulous care of their skin will eventually see the effects of aging. Over time, skin becomes thinner and loses fat and smoothness, causing it to look less healthy and youthful.

At A Younger You Medical Spa in Brookfield and Burlington, we know how the visible signs of aging can affect the way you feel. That’s why we have invested in the innovative Ultherapy treatment to tighten and lift aging skin.

The only FDA-cleared procedure to lift and tighten skin on the neck, face, and chest area, Ultherapy treatments offer impressive results without surgery.

What Is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that uses ultrasound therapy and the body’s natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin.

The Ultherapy device produces ultrasound waves to stimulate the skin’s structural support layers without disturbing the skin’s surface.

Why Does Ultherapy Work?

Ultherapy works by targeting the root cause of what makes aging skin look dull, loose, and thin: a lack of collagen.

Collagen is a protein naturally produced by the body. It helps the body maintain its shape and structure, replaces dead cells, and gives skin elasticity and strength.

Over time, the body’s natural collagen production slows, weakening cell structures. As a result, skin becomes thinner and looser.

Eventually, the body stops producing collagen altogether, so dead cells are replaced less frequently, making the skin look dull. Skin loses its elasticity and structure, causing it to be loose and form wrinkles.

Ultherapy works by stimulating the body to produce more collagen.

How Does Ultherapy Stimulate Collagen Production?

Ultherapy treatments prompt the body to stimulate collagen by causing superficial damage to the skin. This practice is common in other therapies, such as microneedling.

The technique is different in Ultherapy, as its ultrasound technology sends pulses far deeper into the skin. The ultrasound waves send focused energy into the skin’s foundational layers, triggering the body to create more collagen protein.

Ultherapy results stem from regenerating a surplus of collagen beyond the amount damaged in the procedure.

How Is Ultherapy Different?

Cosmetic procedures like microneedling and laser treatments also stimulate collagen, but these procedures can’t reach deeper skin layers. When other methods produce collagen, the proteins grow within four to ten weeks, then stop.

Ultherapy results continue through an extended collagen growth process, lasting three to six months. Patients experience a significant improvement in the lift and fullness of their face within two to three months after their procedure.

What Can I Expect from an Ultherapy Treatment?

Before any treatment, you’ll meet with one of our skilled team members to discuss the procedure, your goals, and any concerns you may have. The only preparation you need to make before an Ultherapy treatment is removing any makeup and skincare products from the target area before your session.

Before we begin your Ultherapy session, we’ll clean any oil or residue from your targeted areas and apply an ultrasound gel. Next, we’ll place the Ultherapy device against your skin.

As the treatment begins, you’ll feel quick intermittent heat and tingling. After the procedure, we’ll remove the applicator, and you can resume regular activities immediately after treatment.

How Long Are Ultherapy Treatments?

Ultherapy treatments may last up to 90 minutes when targeting the face and neck. Patients receiving Ultherapy on their chest can expect their treatments to last about 30 minutes.

What Are Ultherapy Treatment Areas?

These treatments target the four main areas where patients see the most significant effects of aging: the eyebrows, chin, neck, and chest.

Eyebrows

Over time, the eyebrows drop, causing you to look tired or even annoyed or unapproachable. Treatment in the eyebrow areas minimizes sagging eyebrows and produces a more energetic and youthful look.

Chin

The chin is the cornerstone of your profile, and as your skin loses its structure and elasticity, you may see sagging jowls or a double chin. Ultherapy treatments lift and tighten the skin around your chin, correcting mild sagging and the appearance of a double chin.

Neck

The neck and the chest are often the first locations to see the signs of aging. The neck becomes wrinkled, and the skin begins to sag. Ultherapy for the neck firms up loosened skin and provides a smoother, younger look.

Chest

The skin of the chest may become crepey and wrinkled from side-sleeping, sun exposure, and even some medications. Ultherapy treatments are one of the few options available to treat crepey skin.

Ultherapy firms and tightens the skin of the chest, restoring the skin’s smoothness and decreasing the appearance of unwanted lines and wrinkles.

What Are the Benefits of Ultherapy?

There are many reasons to pursue Ultherapy, with the procedure offering results without surgery serving as a big draw. Other benefits include:

Safe

Ultherapy is FDA approved and safe for use on all skin colors and types. The ultrasound energy of Ultherapy bypasses the superficial layers of skin, so those layers remain unharmed in the procedure.

Customizable

Through the ultrasound imaging used at the start of the procedure, we can see the lower layers of your skin and direct the heat directly to the areas most affected by lack of collagen. This capability allows for more dramatic results.

Natural Results

Ultherapy results appear gradually as your body’s collagen production increases. This natural progression means that no one needs to know you had a procedure. Instead, you’ll slowly reveal smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin.

Long-Lasting

Ultherapy results last at least a year, so you’ll only need to repeat treatments every 18 months. However, patients who smoke or spend a lot of time in the sun may need more frequent treatments.

Am I a Candidate for Ultherapy?

The best candidates for Ultherapy are those experiencing skin laxity. For example, patients with loose skin under the neck and chin or those experiencing lines and wrinkles on the chest are likely good candidates.

Suppose that you hope to reverse the signs of aging on your skin but are not ready for a surgical facelift. In that case, Ultherapy is a non-invasive option to restore your skin’s youthfulness naturally.

To learn more about this unique treatment, schedule a consultation at A Younger You Medical Spa, with convenient locations in Brookfield or Burlington.

What’s Unique About CoolSculpting Elite?

April 15, 2022 by A Younger You

CoolSculpting

When CoolSculpting first gained FDA approval in 2010, it quickly became a popular way to reduce stubborn fat that seems immune to diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that allows patients to finally see results that even diet and exercise can’t achieve.

Patients love CoolSculpting so much that when CoolSculpting Elite was released, the team at A Younger You Medical Spa knew we needed the latest advancements in body sculpting. As a result, patients in Brookfield and Burlington now have the opportunity to sculpt the body they want using the latest technology available.

People’s bodies come in different shapes and types, and some bodies hold on to resistant fat pockets that keep you from achieving the figure you want even when you’re exercising and eating healthy foods. CoolSculpting Elite allows you to see the results you’ve worked for.

What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a fat-freezing treatment in which a skilled technician places an applicator onto a stubborn pocket of fat. The applicator suctions the skin into its cooling plates, then exposes the fat to precise, calibrated cooling.

The cold temperature of the CoolSculpting process freezes underlying fat without harming the skin in the surrounding tissues because fat freezes at higher temperatures than skin.

After the fat cells freeze, the cell membrane holding the fat ruptures, and it dies. The body naturally processes the dead fat cells, removing them from the body via the lymphatic system. The fat cells never return, making it a permanent, non-surgical treatment for reducing pockets of fat.

How Is CoolSculpting Elite Different?

CoolSculpting Elite builds on the fat-freezing treatment developed with the original procedure. While the original CoolSculpting machine only allowed for one applicator per treatment, CoolSculpting Elite uses a dual applicator system, enabling technicians to double the fat reduction in less time.

CoolSculpting Elite’s new applicators are also entirely re-engineered using a new, innovative design. The new design complements the body’s natural curve, better fitting the treatment area. As a result, the unique shape is more effective and comfortable.

Lastly, the CoolSculpting Elite’s cooling panels are 18% larger than the originals, increasing the amount of frozen fat in a single treatment.

What Areas Can I Treat with CoolSculpting Elite?

CoolSculpting Elite’s groundbreaking technology makes it the only non-surgical treatment for targeting nine areas of the body, including:

  • The submental area under the chin
  • The submandibular area under the jawline
  • Inner, outer, and front thighs
  • The abdomen
  • Flanks or love handles at the waist
  • Bra fat on the torso, under the armpits
  • Back fat
  • Underneath the buttocks
  • Upper arms

While both CoolSculpting and CoolSculpting Elite may require multiple treatments to achieve your desired results, with CoolSculpting Elite, the treatment is more effective, and appointments are shorter.

Will CoolSculpting Elite Help Me Lose Weight?

While losing weight and eliminating fat may sound similar, they’re not the same. CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss treatment; it’s a fat-freezing treatment. Since muscle weighs so much more than fat, the fat you lose from CoolSculpting won’t make a big difference to the number on your scale.

CoolSculpting treatments improve your appearance and can remove up to 25% of the fat in a treatment area. Patients undergoing CoolSculpting procedures aren’t necessarily looking to drop weight but hoping to improve their figure at a current healthy weight.

How Does a CoolSculpting Elite Procedure Work?

Every CoolSculpting Elite treatment begins with a consultation with one of our expert technicians. We’ll discuss your treatment areas and your ultimate goals during this consultation and estimate the number of sessions you’ll need to see the best results.

When it’s time for your treatment, a member of our expert team will attach the applicator to your treatment area, where it will sit for the duration of your session. Although the CoolSculpting device will feel cold to your skin for the first few moments after activation, this sensation should go away after a few minutes.

While your treatment is underway, you can read, watch TV, or even sleep while the activators destroy your fat cells. The entire treatment takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the targeted area. After the treatment, we will massage the area to break up the crystallized fat cells.

The procedures don’t require any downtime, so you can resume your daily activities immediately.

How Many CoolSculpting Elite Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions you’ll need varies based on your treatment area. Most patients receive between one and three sessions. However, for CoolSculpting to work, there must be a “pinchable” amount of fat in the area.

We typically ask patients to wait at least a month between treatments. The body needs some time to flush the fat cells, and you don’t want to refreeze the same dead fat cells. Waiting for one to three months between treatments provides the best results.

When Will I See Results?

Most patients begin to see changes in the contour of their treatment area as soon as three weeks after their initial treatment. However, two months after your treatment, the results will be much more noticeable.

Since the destroyed fat cells need to go through the body’s natural eliminating process, the full results take time. Smaller treatment areas, such as the chin or jawline, tend to see results sooner.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is ideal for anyone who wants to get rid of pockets of excess fat that stubbornly persist despite maintaining a relatively healthy weight. Candidates for CoolSculpting Elite should be near their ideal weight to see optimal results.

If your goal is to shed resistant fat without surgery or downtime, then CoolSculpting may be the ideal treatment for you. To learn if you’re a good candidate for this state-of-the-art body contouring treatment, book your appointment with A Younger You Medical Spa at our convenient Burlington or Brookfield locations!

Say Goodbye to Stubborn Fat With Non-Surgical Body Contouring

March 15, 2022 by A Younger You

Non Surgical Body Contouring

Even with the right diet, exercise, and lifestyle, losing stubborn fat can be challenging. Non-surgical body contouring can help you get the shape you’ve always wanted without excessive downtime or invasive procedures.

What is non-surgical body contouring? And does non-surgical body contouring work? Keep reading to find out more about how these procedures can transform your body.

What Is Non-Surgical Body Contouring?

Non-surgical body contouring is a term used to describe treatments that work to eliminate fat, shape the curves of your body, and tighten your skin.

Although body contouring does help get rid of fat, it is not a method for losing weight. Instead, it is a method to sculpt particularly stubborn areas of fat that have not responded to weight loss or areas where weight loss has resulted in excess skin.

These treatments are meant to give similar results to surgical options, such as liposuction, lifts, and tucks. Although these procedures may produce positive results, non-surgical body contouring treatments are popular because they are less invasive and do not carry the added risks of surgery.

How Does Non-Surgical Body Contouring Work?

Different non-surgical body contouring treatments use various methods to target fat, but they all generally work to shape your body by following three steps.

First, they target fat cells. Body contouring treatments use many different techniques, including cold, heat, and lasers, to target fat cells. All non-surgical body contouring treatments are able to penetrate beneath your skin without the need for incisions, so your skin will remain undisturbed.

Then, fat cells disintegrate in the targeted treatment areas. Different targeting methods work differently, but each body contouring method will aim to minimize your fat cells by melting or dissolving them.

Finally, your body gets rid of the fat cells. After your treatment, your body naturally clears away your fat cells through your lymphatic system.

After your treatment, you’ll notice less visible fat and smoother, more contoured curves. Your exact results will depend on your treatment area and which non-surgical body contouring treatment option you choose.

What Are the Benefits of Non-Surgical Body Contouring?

If you have been struggling to get rid of stubborn body fat but don’t want to commit to invasive surgery, non-surgical body contouring offers benefits that make it a great choice for many of our patients.

Limited Recovery Time

Unlike most surgical options, a non-surgical body contouring treatment requires little to no downtime. With non-surgical treatment options, you can get results without disrupting your daily routine. If you choose to, you can usually immediately return to normal activities right after your treatment.

Convenient and Comfortable Procedures

We perform non-surgical body contouring treatments right here in our offices, so you can plan an appointment that works with your schedule. Our treatments are comfortable, relaxing, and often take less than an hour. This means that you can easily fit your appointment into a busy day.

Noticeable, Long-Lasting Results

Non-surgical body contouring procedures are popular because they actually deliver results. The technology used in these techniques is only getting more advanced as people continue to turn to them instead of more invasive surgical options.

Non-invasive body contouring treatments work with your body’s natural processes to spot-reduce fat in those hard-to-shape areas so you can feel beautiful and confident in your skin.

What Type of Non-Surgical Body Contouring Treatment is Right for Me?

Choosing the right non-surgical body contouring treatment will depend on a variety of things. During your consultation, we will discuss your medical history, including any medications or past procedures. We suggest that you come to the consultation prepared to tell us about your goals and to ask us any questions you may have.

At A Younger You Medical Spa, we offer CoolSculpting Elite to our patients who are looking for non-surgical body contouring treatments because it is non-invasive, effective, and versatile.

CoolSculpting Elite

CoolSculpting Elite is a non-surgical body contouring treatment that uses a method called cryolipolysis to target stubborn fat. This FDA-approved treatment uses advanced technology to freeze and kill fat cells.

The procedure is performed using a handheld device that is placed over the target area to cool the fat cells. The cold temperatures damage the cells, which triggers your body’s inflammatory response. Once the fat cells are destroyed, your body will naturally clear them away.

This treatment can be used to target nine different areas of the body, including the following:

  • Under the chin
  • Below the jawline
  • Thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Bra fat
  • Back fat
  • Underneath the buttocks
  • Upper arms

CoolSculpting Elite is unique in that it uses dual applicators to target two different stubborn fat areas at once. There is little to no downtime associated with this procedure, so you can reduce unwanted fat without disrupting your daily life and routine.

Results can begin showing six to eight weeks after your initial procedure, but the full results of your treatment may take four to six months to develop. Many patients see a 20–25% reduction in stubborn fat in their targeted treatment areas.

Depending on your goals, you may need follow-up sessions to maximize your results. After you come in for your consultation, we will recommend a treatment plan that is specially designed for you.

Med Spa vs. Day Spa: What’s the Difference?

March 15, 2022 by A Younger You

Med Spa

Treating yourself to a day at the spa can be a relaxing, restorative experience, but the results may be fleeting. Many day spas are limited in the treatments they offer, especially if you want to directly address stubborn conditions and transform your skin.

If you are looking for an all-in-one spa service where you can have advanced treatments from medical professionals, visit our team at A Younger You Medical Spa.

We are a med spa specializing in advanced aesthetic treatment options. Our medical professionals are trained in the latest minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedures and are dedicated to delivering the highest quality patient care.

Keep reading to learn more about how our medical spa is unique and the types of medical spa services we provide.

How Is a Medical Spa Different from a Day Spa?

Although a med spa and a day spa can overlap on the types of services they provide, there are some key differences between them. Knowing the differences can help you decide which type of spa will give you the experience and treatments you desire.

Day spas generally focus on relaxation for both your mind and body. They create a soothing environment for you to escape from the stressors of the world and offer services such as massages, steams, saunas, facials, and even classes like yoga and meditation.

These types of spas are designed to pamper you and give you a break from your daily routine.

A med spa combines these elements of a day spa with non-surgical medical aesthetic services. Along with creating a relaxing, stress-free environment, they aim to provide high-quality aesthetic procedures that cannot be performed at a typical day spa.

Another key difference between a day spa and a med spa is that the procedures offered at a medical spa are performed by licensed professionals. At A Younger You Medical Spa, our team of experts includes licensed aestheticians, medical assistants, registered nurses, and certified laser technicians.

What Types of Services Does a Medical Spa Provide?

The services a medical spa provides aim to improve the overall quality of your skin and aesthetic appearance. These include treatments that utilize the latest in skincare technology, like light and laser treatments, injectables, and chemical peels.

Med spa procedures, particularly when combined in a specialized treatment plan, can work to reduce the presence and appearance of:

  • Unwanted hair

Skin Rejuvenation Treatments: What Are They and How Can They Help Your Skin?

March 15, 2022 by A Younger You

Rejuvenation Treatments

Over time, your skin naturally shows signs of aging. These signs may include sun damage, wrinkles and fine lines, acne scars, and a range of other imperfections and discoloration. As you get older, your skin also naturally loses volume and elasticity, making it appear loose and more wrinkled.

At A Younger You Medical Spa, we offer skin rejuvenation treatments to help restore your skin’s natural radiance. Our skin rejuvenation treatments address a variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Sunspots
  • Age spots
  • Dull skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Vascular lesions
  • Generally uneven skin tone and texture

If you struggle with any of these skin conditions, our skin rejuvenation procedures can help. We offer a range of non-invasive treatments that can help resurface and tighten your skin while improving its tone and texture.

Many of our treatments are so gentle they can be combined with other procedures to maximize your results. No matter what type of skin you currently have, our skin rejuvenation treatments can help you see smoother, brighter, clearer skin.

Skin Tightening and Resurfacing

We offer skin rejuvenation procedures that utilize the latest in skin tightening and resurfacing technology.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-invasive skin tightening procedure that can lift skin on your eyebrows, neck, and under your chin, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your neck and chest.

This treatment uses ultrasound energy to penetrate deep down to the lower levels of your skin and encourage collagen production, resulting in smoother, tighter, healthier skin.

Fractional Resurfacing

Fractional resurfacing is a laser resurfacing procedure that delivers fast pulses of radiofrequency energy to your skin. Your skin then absorbs this energy, producing heat. This heat helps the body remove damaged skin cells and increases collagen production.

Removing unhealthy cells and allowing your healthy cells to shine through will help your skin look smoother and more radiant.

Laser Skin Tightening with Venus Concept

Venus Concept uses radiofrequency technology to gently smooth and tighten your skin. This treatment is non-invasive, non-surgical, and safe for all skin types. The radiofrequency energy works with your body to increase collagen production, helping you achieve tighter, younger-looking skin.

Improving Tone and Texture

We offer a variety of non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatments that can improve the tone and texture of your skin.

HydraFacial

The HydraFacial is a unique all-in-one skin rejuvenation process. This five-step facial works to cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and hydrate your skin.

We begin with Vortex-Exfoliation using Activ-4 serum to remove dead skin cells, followed by a Vortex-Peel, then Vortex-Extraction using suction and Beta-HD serum

We complete your treatment with Vortex-Fusion, where we apply Antiox+ serum to nourish and protect your skin. This gentle and relaxing procedure will rejuvenate your skin while giving you a well-deserved break from a busy day.

Chemical Peels

We offer two types of chemical peels: PCA skin peels and VI peels. Our PCA skin peel is gentle on your skin so that it can give your complexion a subtle refresh without any downtime.

Our VI peel is a medium-strength peel, producing more dramatic results while requiring minimal downtime. It is suitable for all skin types so anyone can enjoy smoother, clearer skin.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that works with your body to achieve a smoother, more even skin tone. Using a device called the Rejuvapen, we make pin-sized micro-incisions all along your skin, prompting your body’s natural healing response.

As a result, your body increases its production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give your skin a tight, smooth, full appearance.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a type of gentle, high-powered exfoliating procedure. It uses diamond-tipped wands to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells and reveal the healthy skin underneath.

This treatment can not only help your natural skin look brighter and more radiant, but it can also help your cosmetic products go on more smoothly, giving your makeup a more natural-looking finish.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is another type of exfoliation treatment that uses a small, surgical-grade scalpel to gently remove dead skin cells and small facial hairs. It is safe for all skin types and can be performed on your cheeks, chin, nose, forehead, and neck.

This skin rejuvenation procedure has the added benefit of triggering your body’s natural regenerative process, which helps promote healthy, radiant skin.

IPL Photofacial

The IPL photofacial is a laser skin rejuvenation procedure. It works by delivering intense pulsed light (IPL) beneath the surface of your skin to target the layers underneath. The energy is then absorbed by your cells, which changes the appearance of your skin from the inside out.

Your body uses the laser energy to reduce the appearance of any discolored or damaged cells, leaving you with smoother, fuller, more even skin.

Discover the Benefits of Bellafill Injectable Fillers

February 17, 2022 by A Younger You

Discover the Benefits of Bellafill Injectable Fillers

As you age, so does your skin. Many people experience a loss in volume and elasticity in their face as the body produces less collagen, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles. Even if you protect your face with sunscreen, creams, and serums, it’s hard to stop your skin’s natural aging process.

There are many different cosmetic treatments available to help renew your skin. At A Younger You Medical Spa, we provide our patients with the latest in skincare technology to help you transform your skin and deliver long-lasting results. If you want to achieve smoother, younger-looking skin that works with your body, we recommend our Bellafill injectable fillers.

Injectables: Neurotoxins vs. Fillers

Although both fillers and neurotoxins are cosmetic injectables used to treat wrinkles, they serve very different purposes for improving the quality of your skin. Neurotoxins target dynamic wrinkles, the kind caused by repeated facial expressions. Dynamic wrinkles appear in several areas of the face and include forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

On the other hand, fillers reduce the appearance of wrinkles that have formed due to your skin losing elasticity and volume. These fillers also restore any lost volume, plumping the skin and smoothing any noticeable wrinkles.

Both of these cosmetic injectables can subtly transform your skin to help you achieve a natural, more youthful appearance. Our skincare experts at A Younger You Medical Spa will evaluate your skin and recommend the best type of treatment to fit your needs during your consultation.

What Is Bellafill?

Bellafill is a type of filler we use to restore volume to your skin. This smooth, gel-based filler contains collagen and tiny PMMA microspheres that work together to smooth away unwanted wrinkles.

The FDA approves Bellafill injectable fillers to treat a variety of skin conditions, including nasolabial folds and acne scars. Unlike other fillers that lose their effectiveness over shorter periods of time, this unique formula produces results that can last up to five years.

How Does Bellafill Work?

Bellafill injectable fillers effectively restore volume and shape to your face using two powerful ingredients: collagen and PMMA microspheres. Bellafill filler is 80% smooth collagen gel. Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based fillers, a collagen base creates smooth, supple volume beneath the surface of your skin and delivers longer-lasting results.

The other 20% of Bellafill filler comprises polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. These are suspended in the collagen gel and create a scaffold that triggers and supports your body’s natural collagen production.

Even as the original collagen in Bellafill begins to fade away, the PPMA remains under the skin. As a result, your body will respond by replacing the collagen gel with its own natural collagen, sustaining your original results long after your treatment.

What Does Bellafill Treat?

Bellafill treats both nasolabial folds and certain types of acne scars. Also known as smile lines, nasolabial folds extend from the corners of your mouth up to your nose. When the Bellafill filler is injected in these areas, you will immediately notice that your skin looks smoother and your wrinkles have diminished.

If you have uneven skin texture due to acne scars, Bellafill can be used to add volume underneath, essentially “filling in” your scar and smoothing the overall surface of your skin. Bellafill is effective on distensible acne scars, the kind that smoothes out when you tug on them, and atrophic scars, the type of scar that’s pitted or depressed in the skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for Bellafill?

Bellafill is an excellent treatment option for both men and women over 21. If you are unhappy with the look of your nasolabial folds or have distensible or atrophic acne scars on your cheeks, Bellafill can help you feel more confident in your skin.

This FDA-approved filler is not only safe for all skin types and colors but also can deliver longer-lasting results without the need for touch-ups. Before we schedule your treatment, we will conduct an allergy test to make sure Bellafill is safe for you.

What Can I Expect from the Procedure?

During your consultation, we will outline any pre-treatment steps you may need to follow. We’ll also map out specific treatment areas we will be targeting during your procedure. Finally, we’ll cover your post-treatment care, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when it comes to your procedure.

We will prepare your skin for treatment with a gentle cleansing on the day of your treatment. Then, we will carefully place the Bellafill filler in the locations decided upon during your consultation.

The specific amount of injections you may need will depend on what we are treating and your desired results. The treatment itself only takes 15-20 minutes with no downtime, so you can fit your Bellafill treatment into a busy day and immediately return to your daily activities.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

As one of the longest-lasting injectable fillers, Bellafill doesn’t require frequent, repeated treatments. Your specific treatment needs will vary depending on what area you treat and how fast your body metabolizes the ingredients. For acne scarring, results can last as long as twelve months.

Bellafill can produce long-lasting results for up to five years in nasolabial folds. Rather than planning for regular treatments, we can work with you to monitor your results and schedule touch-up sessions as needed.

Discover Whether Bellafill is Right For You

If you’re ready to look in the mirror and see your younger self again, visit us at A Younger You Medical Spa in Brookfield and Burlington, WI.

Our team is dedicated to providing Waukesha, Milwaukee, New Berlin, and the greater southern Wisconsin area with the most advanced minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedures available today. Call to schedule your complimentary consultation.

What Laser Hair Removal Can Do for You

February 17, 2022 by A Younger You

What Laser Hair Removal Can Do for You

Body hair is natural for everyone, but it’s no secret that for many people, it’s unwanted. Although hair removal methods like shaving and waxing are easy to access, they can become more cumbersome with time.

Can you imagine never having to worry about nicking yourself with a dull razor, spending an extra 15 minutes in the shower shaving, or going through painful waxing procedures ever again?

That’s what laser hair removal can do for you.

What Is Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Laser hair removal describes the process of using a beam of light to penetrate the pigment of the hair at the treated site.

When the pigment (melanin) in the hair absorbs light, the light energy is converted into heat. The converted heat then damages the hair follicles within the skin responsible for producing hair.

This damage both inhibits and delays future hair growth at the treatment sites. Laser hair removal is controlled enough to only damage the hair follicle without causing damage to any of the surrounding skin or tissue.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

The efficacy of laser hair removal depends in part on the person receiving the treatment. Everyone’s body is different and unique, and this treatment is more effective on some bodies than others.

In some cases, after several laser hair removal sessions, patients see permanent hair loss in some areas. In almost all cases, the hair that does grow back is very light and thin.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Sessions Will I Need?

Multiple laser sessions are required over time for laser hair removal to be most effective. This is due to the growth cycle of hair.

Hair Growth Cycle

Your hair has four different phases in its hair growth cycle: anagen, catagen, telogen, and exogen.

Anagen Phase

The anagen phase of your hair’s growth cycle is the growth phase. This phase is the longest of all, lasting anywhere from three to five years for head hair and around 30 days for body hair.

During the anagen phase, your hair follicles push the hair out through the skin until they reach the end of their lifespan.

The anagen phase is different for patches of hair in the same location, which is why several laser hair removal sessions are required.

Laser hair removal is only effective on hair in its anagen phase. In one session, you may succeed in targeting 30% of hair, while at your next session, another percentage is in its anagen phase.

Catagen, Telogen, and Exogen Phases

These three phases are not as relevant to laser hair treatment. The catagen phase starts at the end of the anagen phase and lasts an average of ten days. During the catagen phase, your hair follicles shrink, and the hair separates from the follicle.

The telogen phase is the resting phase, which lasts around three months. During this phase, the hair isn’t growing but isn’t falling out, either.

Exogen is the shedding phase, when your hair falls from the skin, making way for new hair growth.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Treatment Work?

During the anagen phase of your hair’s growth, the hair follicle bulb is the main component of your hair growth. The hair follicle is the target for heat therapy or thermolysis.

Melanin is produced in the hair follicle bulb in high quantities. By targeting the melanin in the hair follicle, the laser light effectively disables the follicle, which stops hair growth.

What Happens During a Laser Hair Removal Procedure?

Your provider will place the laser device against your skin during a laser hair removal procedure. You will see short bursts of light as the lasers target the melanin in your hair follicles.

Each pulse targets several follicles at once, but remember that only a tiny percentage will be affected each session. This is why you must have multiple sessions to see results.

Who Is a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

In the past, laser hair removal wasn’t compatible with every skin type. Some of the first laser devices invented were not advanced enough to distinguish between the hair and the skin if there wasn’t sufficient contrast. This is why many individuals with light hair are under the false impression they cannot get laser hair removal.

Modern devices (like the ones we use at A Younger You Medical Spa) are safe and effective for all skin and hair types.

Patients who may not be able to receive laser hair removal include individuals who have active skin infections, inflammatory skin conditions, active cold sores, open lacerations, skin cancer, sunburn, or chronic viral diseases.

If you are wondering if you are a candidate for laser hair removal, the best thing you can do is reach out to the professionals at A Younger You Meidcal Spa for a consultation.

Post-Session Results

After your laser hair removal procedure, you will not notice immediate results. It will take time for your hair to fall out.

Over the next one to three weeks, you’ll start to notice apparent hair loss from the treated areas.

The more sessions you attend and the more consistently you maintain your sessions, the fewer hairs will grow back after treatment.

After each treatment, there is no downtime required. You can immediately resume your lifestyle and routine following each laser hair removal session.

Getting Started with Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is an incredibly simple procedure, and it’s easy to get started! All you have to do is contact A Younger You Medical Spa for a consultation to ensure you have no pre-existing contraindications against treatment.

Our team will evaluate the areas you want to be treated. Then, it’s as simple as starting treatment!

After your session, our team will go over the recommended treatment plan so you can continue to enjoy your results long-term.
