What are the Acne Treatments Like?
We provide facial treatments such as microdermabrasion, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and chemical peels as ways to treat acne and skin blemishes.
Microdermabrasion can be used on mild and non-inflammatory acne like whiteheads and blackheads. It involves spraying fine crystals on the skin and then vacuuming the crystals, dead skin cells and other debris, including anything clogging the pores. The crystals remove the topmost layer of the skin. Microdermabrasion can also be used to minimize acne scars.
IPL can be used on inflammatory acne, and it works by killing the bacteria that cause it. IPL leaves the surface of the skin undamaged while stimulating the skin’s healing mechanisms. A single session generally takes about 60 minutes. IPL therapy can be combined with other treatments like chemical peels or dermal fillers. It can also be used to treat other blemishes like rosacea, sun damage, fine lines, large pores and other skin problems.
Chemical peels can remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. They also speed up the turnover of skin cells, which helps the pores stay clear longer and can even make acne scars less visible. One chemical peel offered by our specialist is the Vi Peel, which is designed to treat both acne and acne scars, along with other blemishes like wrinkles or discoloration. The Vi Peel is made from a mixture of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, phenol, retinoic acid and Vitamin C.
What is i-lipo?
i-lipo is a non-surgical variant of liposuction. Low-power lasers cause the fat cells to dump the glycerol and fatty acids they have been storing, and the body then uses the fatty acids and glycerol to make energy. The client will have to exercise within a few hours after treatment to ensure that the fatty acids and glycerol are expelled and not simply reabsorbed by other fat cells.
An i-lipo treatment generally takes 30 minutes, and most patients will need about eight sessions to get the desired results. Most people undergo two sessions per week. We encourage clients to follow their protocol to get the best results. For example, patients should start drinking at least 64 ounces of water every day within a week of starting treatment.
