What is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is a body contouring procedure cleared by the FDA as a nonsurgical way to reduce fat. The results are noticeable, scientifically proven, and can leave you looking your best from every angle. CoolSculpting® is a fat freezing procedure that uses controlled cooling to remove fat from stubborn fat deposits such as the:
- Love handles
- Back of the arms
- Small areas such as the bra area and underneath the chin
The inspiration for this technology was developed by scientists at Harvard University. They noticed that pediatric patients who were given popsicles developed dimples in their cheeks, leading to a breakthrough in how cold affects fat cells. This led to the development of CoolSculpting® technology, which uses controlled cooling to target and disable fat cells. In the weeks following your procedure, your body will process and remove the fat, leading to a reduction in fat volume and a slimmer, more contoured appearance.
What to Expect During Treatment
When the process begins, the applicator be optimally positioned on the area being treated and a sensation of intense cold will last for a few minutes. This treatment is typically well-tolerated and lasts for about an hour, with most patients able to read, check mobile devices and even sleep throughout treatment. When the procedure is done, we will remove the device and administer a gentle massage to the area.
Are There Risks?
In the weeks following your treatment, you may experience slight bruising, swelling, and redness. There may also be some mild numbing in the treated area, but all of these symptoms are temporary and typically fade quickly.
When Will I See Results?
The results of CoolSculpting® are typically visible after about six weeks, with full results at about 12 weeks as the body removes targeted fat. The majority of men and women experience between 20 and 30 percent fat reduction. We will customize your treatment plan to create optimal results for you.
